Dietrich Poppen spends his days as a sculptor and painter for the Guthrie, his evenings as lighting director for the Fitzgerald Theater, his late evenings freelancing as a scenic, sound, and lighting designer, and his late late evenings as a musician and recording engineer. In addition to CAE, he has designed for Commonweal (Arcadia), Torch (Prints), Girl Friday Productions (Idiot’s Delight, The Matchmaker), Theatre in the Round (Rhinoceros, Fahrenheit 451) among many others. He is a frequent lead scenic artist for Theater Latté Da (most recently Five Points, Six Degrees of Separation, and Ragtime), and often takes to the stage himself as an actor (TRP’s Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead).
